ORMSIDE ART GROUP ANNUAL EXHIBITION IN AID OF Ormside Village Hall

Ormside Village Hall once again provides the venue for the Ormside Painting Group’s Art Exhibition, showing work by myself, and some of my students.

We are delighted to have Charlotte Ashley, who describes herself as - an aspiring felt artist with a passion for wool, exhibiting as a Guest Artist with us this year. Charlotte, who has lived in Cumbria now for 8 years, farms with her husband Roy, at Crackenthorpe. As a young Mum to Anna, Charlotte somehow finds the time to source and processes the wool for her dynamic needle felt pictures, by hand, or as she describes it – ‘from field to the frame’.

In 2000 when the group first exhibited together to raise funds for the village hall (where we meet to paint), the event proved so popular that it was decided to make it an annual event, supporting a different local charity each year.

This will be the 16th exhibition the group has held in aid of many local charities, and this year it has been decided to donate the proceeds to the Village Hall again, to help raise funds for the substantial renovation project that is currently being planned to bring the Hall up to date.

Renowned for the excellent homemade refreshments provided so generously by members of the local community, the whole weekend has become a much enjoyed event.

The exhibition will include, original paintings, prints and greetings cards, and a selection of high quality local crafts, including beautiful handmade jewellery, silk products, wood turnings and hand built ceramics.

After the rain it is wonderful to see the snow and to enjoy the beautiful light that comes with it. I am currently working on originals for several galleries, plus a new range of sheep Limited Editions. So how could I resist these sheep in the snow!?
